Information about the School Violence Watch Network (SVWN)

Remember September 11, 2001

The School Violence Watch Network (SVWN) is a free comprehensive web based communication system and information exchange repository that was created to assist school administrators, teachers and law enforcement officials quickly and efficiently deal with threats and rumors of violence, bullying, or drug abuse occurring within schools. This system can potentially reduce or prevent all violent activities that threaten students and educators worldwide.

The concept is simple and the system is easy to use.

Authorized SVWN members can...

  • Empower their teachers and administrators to quickly identify
    and remedy potential violent issues
  • Enable their own students (and concerned public citizens) to assist
in taking preventative action against school violence
  • Anonymously maintain a catalog of rumors and threats of violence
  • Anonymously interact with all members of the
    International School Violence Watch Network
  • Search for threats or rumors of violence in their region
  • Search for threats or rumors of violence in other regions

The system enables teachers and school administrators to take proactive steps in preventing violence from occurring within their schools - all with a degree of anonymity. Once configured, the member school or organization will enable the ability for threats to be anonymously reported by students using the Students Who Care reporting system. All reports would go only to personnel that have been determined solely by the member school or organization.

Additionally, schools and law enforcement organizations can anonymously interact using the School Violence Watch Network to either quickly disseminate factual information or to contain or debunk rumors. Information may be stored in the central database that can be searched. Since the database requires "no real names", participating member schools or organizations are free to disclose only information about themselves that they deem appropriate at all times.

We strive to preserve your privacy, and seek to provide you with the best tools you need to combat school violence.

The School Violence Watch Network is the most comprehensive and effective online service available to assist in preventing school violence.
